Wash the apples, peel them (if you prefer), and remove the core. Cut them into small cubes, about 1/2 to 3/4 inch, for easy snacking.
Place the diced apples into a mixing bowl.
Pour the lemon juice over the apples and mix well. This little trick helps prevent browning and adds a lovely zesty kick.
Rinse the blueberries and gently pat them dry. Add them to the bowl with the apples.
Carefully stir everything together, making sure not to mash the blueberries (unless you're aiming for a berry compote!).
Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for an even cooler treat.
- If you'd like a touch more sweetness, feel free to add a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup.
- You can serve this snack with a dollop of plain yogurt for a more filling and creamy treat.
- For extra refreshment (especially on a hot day!), chill it in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes before serving.
- A pinch of cinnamon or vanilla can add a wonderfully subtle aroma.
- Use different colored apples to make your plate even more appealing – after all, we eat with our eyes first!
